| Nancy is a Charter Member Gyrette. On our Club's Charter Night in August1993, she & Dee Padilla (Ben's wife) performed a dance routine choreographed by Kim Stock, former Nipomo dance instructor. Nancy & Dee were outstanding performing “Let us entertain you” with appropriate lyrics directed to Bob Decker as founder of the Blacklake Gyro Club. The two ladies preformed so well that our Gyro guests from Canada, and other District 4 Clubs thought they were professionals hired for the occasion. | ![]() |

as a child, Nancy had always wanted to be a dancer, but the only dance
instructor in the area had left, so Nancy put her dreams on hold until
she was an adult. Arriving in California in 1949 ---100 years late for
the Gold Rush, she worked as an accountant, retired, and arrived here
in Blacklake in 1992. It was here that she met Kim Stock and
began her dance lessons, for which she is a natural. Nancy is
presently dancing with a group of 8 ladies known as “GOTTA
DANCE”. They are all in their 70's and their aggregate age
is 500+ years!! They entertain once a month at senior
convalescence homes where they are well received by the
residents. The “GOTTA DANCE” ladies have been
scheduled to perform on May 11 at the grand opening of the Arroyo
Grande Performing Arts Center. What an Honor! Nancy also bowls twice weekly, and maintains a credible average. In addition to bowling & dancing, she walks the streets of Blacklake to stay in shape. Yep she is indeed in shape as she can still turn cartwheels. Can you remember the last cartwheel YOU turned?? Nancy met Glen at bowling and introduced him to Gyro, for which we are all glad. She has 2 daughters & 3 grandchildren (remember what grandmothers USED to look like? Nancy states that life changes dramatically when your spouse dies. Being a single, rather than a couple, is a problem, but you work through it, and keep busy doing your routine, and eventually you create a new routine and life continues. |
