Bob & Carol Stave

Exciting, effervescent, energized, exuberant, ebullient, enthusiastic, ecstatic (on living at Blacklake), and extra-nice best describes our new members, Bob and Carol Stave.

Bob's birthday is November 25; Carol's is January 25.  Their were married on October 10, 1959.

They have both jumped feet first into an active life style here at Blacklake.  Carol most recently completing her training as a Docent for the Elephant Seals Habitat at San Simeon.  Bob, who once played tenor sax in college at the University of Washington (and not that long ago) again took it up, was accepted, and is now playing with the Alan Hancock Concert Band . . . "and loving every minute of it".  He also fits in tennis in his "spare" time.

Both have as their #1 volunteer project, "Angels For Austin", a volunteer foundation for research and cure for a rare cellular disorder, neurocutaneous melanosis.  Austin is their 4-1/2 year old grandson living in Santa Maria.  (For more information on this, see accompanying article.)

The Staves were in retail sales in San Rafael for 18 years, owning and operating a high-end gift shop including bridal registry.

They retired 4-1/2 years ago, moving to this area one year ago.  Their daughter and son-in-law live in Santa Maria with their 4 children, including Austin.  Their son and his family still reside in Northern California with their two children.

Their household here in The Estates (overlooking the tee box at Oaks #4) include Miss Jetta, a geriatric cat who is most independent, but loving.  She had fallen into the toilet just prior to my arrival and was searching for a dry, warm spot to lie down.

Both Bob and Carol are ecstatic to be living here at Blacklake.  They love the people, the weather, in fact everything about the entire area.  We totally agree with them.  Our club has gained two new members who will continue to perpetuate the principles of Gyro.
