| Robert and Kathy Veder are practically newlyweds. They will be celebrating their 4th anniversary in October. “Rob”, as he prefers to be called comes from the San Francisco area. A professor of audiology, he has slowed down to once-a-month visits to his office in Sonora, California, where he and Kathy maintain a home in the mountains 30 miles north of Sonora. |

the two, they have 4 children. Rob has 3 daughters who live in the
Folsom area of California (one of whom will make Rob the grandfather to
twins), and Kathy has one son. Kathy can proudly claim to be a native of the central coast. Her family settled in the Santa Maria area in the 1880’s and at one time owned property on the present-day site of the Santa Maria speedway. Kathy’s expertise was in education. She was Principal of Nipomo Elementary School for 30 years from which she retired in 1999. Kathy and Rob originally met in college and were family friends for 35 years. Life’s twists and turns finally brought them together in a serious relationship, which resulted in marriage 4 years ago. So, if you were to ask them, “How long did it take you two to get married?” they will reply, “35 years”. They love to travel, and recently returned from a 7-week trip to Scandinavia. The Dana Adobe restoration is a project that is very dear to Kathy’s heart. Kathy is President of Dana Adobe Amigos, a volunteer organization dedicated to preserving the culture and the property.
