Viggo & Aasa Sorensen

How can you put into words that can describe the life of these two delightful people?  They have traveled extensively, living in several countries, and finally settling here in our own little bit of Paradise.  Viggo and Aase love everything about Blacklake (as we all do), and we are so happy to welcome them into the Gyro family.  Their son, Ole, 38 years, is living in Seattle, and he agrees wholeheartedly with his parents about living in the U.S.  Ole is a Graphic Artist, and you must see his work . . . . . Great!  Have Mom and Dad show it to you.  Be sure to ask to see a business card he designed for them.  So unique! MemberPhoto
We all had difficulty with the pronunciation of Aase’s name.  It’s pronounced, “Oh-sah”.  However, she does respond to any pronunciation (sometimes even “hey, you”).  And of course, Viggo is pronounced “Vee-go”.

Having lived in Grass Valley, California (in the “gold country”), they had a condo here in Blacklake – renting it out, and finally decided to sell their home in Grass Valley and move permanently to Blacklake.  After living in the condo, they eventually found the house they wanted to buy and subsequently bought it.  Being neighbors of Alan and Mary Jane Noll, they were introduced to Gyro, and have become our newest members.

The Sorensens have led very interesting lives.  Their story is so fascinating that to really appreciate it, you must talk to them about it in person.

But to summarize briefly:  They were married on July 3, 1955 in Denmark.  Viggo was an engineer and served in the Royal Danish Air Force.  He was a Chief Engineer on tankers.  Aase trained as a nurse and was a Visiting Nurse when they left their homeland.  She loved her work and misses the contact with people in need of her skills.

We welcome Viggo and Aase into the Gyro family, and Blacklake Gyro will certainly benefit from having them join us.
